Dataset containing the public rights of way of Isle of Wight

As reported on this web page, David Groom has obtained from the council of the Isle of Wight ESRI shape files that contain details of the public rights of way that are on the Isle of Wight. These ESRI shape files are included in this zip file. These ESRI shape files were supplied to David on 11th July 2017. The council also provides information about public rights of way in a collection of maps in PDF files that are available from this web page. It may be that their maps use more up-to-date information.

An authority's Definitive Map is the authoritative source of their rights of way. The details of the public rights of way network contained in an authority's data are for information only, and are an interpretation of the Definitive Map, not the Definitive Map itself, and should not be relied on for determining the position or alignment of any public right of way. For legal purposes, an authority's data does not replace their Definitive Map. And changes may have been made to the Definitive Map that are not included in their data. The authority's data contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database right 2013. Attempting to view this data with more detail than 1:10000 may produce an inaccurate rendering of the route of a public right of way.

This web page says the ESRI shape files are made available by the council of Isle of Wight under the Open Government Licence. So it's possible for you to use this data provided you give an attribution.

Please e-mail me if you see a web page where the authority of Isle of Wight allows you to download the ESRI shape file.

This web site also provides data about the rights of way of Isle of Wight in KML format and in GeoJSON format.
